I was going to wait for the one year mark, but what the hell!

Four months, with henna. I just like the way it looks like a mess of snakes!

Six Months, after curling with Clairol Hot Sticks:

How beautiful! I have been considering dreads for many years! You have nearly got me convinced! I don't exactly understand how you did it tho. You braided your hair to get it kinky and then rolled it in your hands to get it knotty? Please, do tell!

Yes, that's right, but I backcombed the kinked hair first before palmrolling. There's a great community on LiveJournal called get_up_dread_up. Check their memories for the answers to just about any dread questions you can dream up.

Can you post some henna experiences? I am about to henna my 2 year old locks, and I need to learn more....my locks are thin (like the size of a mouse cord), and my coarse hair is THICK!
How long did you need to rinse the henna out? Were you left with any residue?
