So it's been about three weeks on Sparkpeople and I've lost 8 pounds! What the fuck? I don't believe it, and I'm sure my scale is lying to me to make me feel good or something. But why would a scale lie?

Certainly keeping the food log updated is an adjustment, but now I find it to be no big deal. If I can't get to the computer I just jot down what I've eaten on a piece of paper and enter it later in the day. There are so many things already registered, I've only had to add the numbers in for a few of my regular purchases, like the salad dressings I buy or the cereals I get over at Aldi. Anyway, once I put them in, it keeps a record of it so I don't have to enter it again.

I don't feel like I'm dieting really. I've never been too bad with eating junk, my trouble has been portioning and boredom munching, so this seems to really help because I'm really paying attention to what's going in the ol' piehole.

All in all, it hasn't been too hard to keep up with my exercise challenge either. The people over at Spark are really supportive, and we all encourage each other to stick with the better lifestyle.

Anyway, I haven't been posting my log links for a bit, but you can scroll backward to see how I'm doing. On hafla night I had two wine coolers, and because I was stressy earlier in the day I hadn't eaten much, so that was a bad day for nutrition! But outside of that, I've been doing pretty well. Posting my log link will also keep me accountable to you guys, because you can look at it and see that I'm keeping track of things. Keeps me honest!

Dreadies:

For the hafla I braided in my wool extentions, and they looked pretty cool. When I took them out I saw that they actually helped calm down some of my mattier rootage, plus when I first took them out I had a cool kinky dread thing going on. So I may try setting them on my ladder rods one day.

They are looking good and I'm happy with them. I'm still spiral palmrolling like an obsessive weirdo once a week or so, but it seems to be paying off, some of them are starting to shrink and bump up and do cool things. From the other timelines I've seen, I'm pretty far ahead in the dreadlocking game. :-D

Woot for you! I think it's great that you have lost 8lbs!

I have to check out this site. I am heading to the gym this morning. I have watched what I am eating, for about 1 full on week. I started the Allie, fully, yesterday.

We shall see.

Well,

now this is just me playing devil's advocate, but if you are already reducing your fat intake, why buy expensive pills? Do you think the threat of poopy panties will keep you on the straight and narrow? Maybe so, I don't know. I'll look into it a bit, but I'd like to hear your thought process on this.

Hahhahah. My doctor recommended it to me to help boost my metabolism. So, I figured why not? And the side effects only occur when a person on the pills eats a lot of fatty foods. I am not at all concerned about pooping in my pants. I have been on it, periodically, for over 2 weeks. I officially started the 3 times a day regimen Sunday. I have had no gas, no pains, and no leakage. lol

I am not opposed to trying pills at all. I have actually no real feelings on pills at all. Either you take them, or you don't. My personal choice is to try it. If my Doc says it might help, so be it. I have read the pamphlets, the online information, and it's really individualistic as to how the side effects happen, just like any pill.

But hey, that's my own opinion, and I realize lots of people don't like pills.

How does Alli boost metabolism? I thought it was a fat blocker?

According to their website, all it does is block fat absorption. You could drink a little green tea if you want to help the metabolism I guess. I wish I liked green tea more, but last time I tried it I really got the....well, you know. Maybe I'll give it another try, it might have been because it was a bottled cold green tea drink.

Congratulations to you!!!! :)

Have you tried the Kashi frozen meals yet? Very inexpensive and taste great. Remind me of Mediterranean cooking.....

I didn't realize you could put in your own foods!!
I signed up and when I tried to log my food that day, half the stuff I had wasn't one the list.. So I ended up giving up, because I figured it wasn't going to be accurate for me anyway.. I couldn't log everything.
Now I'll go back on there and figure out how to enter my own foods. Now that would make it much better!

Go to 'add a food not listed', and fill in the values, then before you add it to your food for that day, make sure you check the 'add to favorite's box, and it will be saved for you, just go to your favorites tab to access those foods.

Ryk was really impressed with the dreds. He leaned over and asked, "When did she start dreds?" I said, "About a month ago." He said, "They're doing really well."
