Well, I don't believe in punishment (unless someone is into that kind of thing.. heh). I was suggesting more protein specifically so you'd have the energy, not get sugar crashes (which aren't only caused by sugar, but by all carbs), and so you don't get derailed prematurely. I assumed you'd want to keep the calories approximately where they are, so if you're going to add protein, you'd have to reduce something else. The obvious choice would be carbs.
If you're not too concerned about the calories, then you could just add some protein. In fact, if you do that, you might find that the carb percentage drops just because you don't have the cravings for them as much.
