I knew the cemetery thing wasn't true, But I didn't know about the false idol thing. I know the Old Testament says something about not tattooing yourself like a pagan, but that may be a poor translation.
As far as the pain, it isn't anything you couldn't handle. Certainly nothing like childbirth, I'm sure! It's sort of like getting pinched with tweezers, I guess. But after a little bit, your endorphins help out with that. Also, some areas hurt more than others.
I am also a chaneable soul, I knew I'd always love mermais though, and I got my first tattoo, a mermaid on my calf, when I was about 28, after I left my first husband. I didn't get one after that, because I wasn't ready, and I hadn't found the right artist. Now I have, so I'm unstoppable, LOL.
