A couple of weeks ago, Corey got himself an XBOX 360. We already have a PS3, and are quite happy with it, but there was one game that he wanted that was on on that system, and he really wanted it, so we picked it up at Game Crazy. Once he played the game, he was not all that thriled, and then the XBOX got the RROD (Red Ring of Death). After reading up on that a bit, he decided he was fine with his PS3 and would just return the XBOX for store credit--he asked me if there was anything that I wanted and I said WII & WII Fit!

Because of the You Tube Wii Fit girl, I had seen the Wii Fit and wanted very much to try it.

Yes, the boyfriend is silly, but it looked like fun, and after looking up the rest of the program (It has other balance games, aerobics, yoga and strength training, I was really up for getting one.

I got it all hooked up last night, and I love it! It's so much fun! The hula hoop one is really great for bellydancers by the way--it's like an umi showdown. I do one time clockwise and one time counter. I also love the other balance games, especially the ski jump. I did the basic run, where you run behind a little cartoon dude in a park, and try to keep your pace as steady as possible. Because it is registered by the motion of the controller, I can keep the running under my control (for my knees) and still get a great little workout.

So, I thought I would let you guys know how much I liked it, in case anyone is considering it. Winter is coming, and I know I'll be eating more and moving less, so it's the perfect time. Unlike my previous favorite, Yourself Fitness, it doesn't give you a program really, but it does let you set goals and it keeps track of your weight and BMI (curse you, BMI!). It comes with a balance board that helps you work on improving your balance, and it also weighs you, which is kind of embarrassing--especially when the board says, "Oooh!" when you step on it, and after calculating my BMI, the little cartoon Mii blew up like Violet Beauregarde. It also calculates your WII Fit age, taking your real age and then giving you a couple of tests in balance. I'm not sure how helpful that is, but I got an age of 29, so that made me happy.

Yes, it's not 'real' gaming, though there are lots of more traditional games on the Wii that are available. After playing the Wii Fit, I put in the Zelda game that we got with it, and played that for a while--nice game. 3D game environments tend to make me a little dizzy after a while, but I really liked this game. So far, I think the Wii is fun, and there's nothing wrong with fun. Speaking of fun, I'm definitely getting the game with the evil rabbits in it!:
