Tropic Thunder
Aug. 25th, 2008 04:46 pmIn our quest to spend too much money this weekend (well, maybe it didn't start out as a quest, but we sure accomplished it.), we went out to the movies to see Tropic Thunder on Sunday night.
I don't think I've ever laughed out loud in a movie theater like this.
Let me be clear--it's as lowbrow as you can get. Fat jokes, fart jokes, cultural digs, references to the mentally handicapped that may offend the more delicate natures... Also, it may be more accessible if you've seen Platoon and Saving Private Ryan, or any of the gorewar flicks.
But oh man, it was funny! You know, for the inner Beavis. He hehe. Good stuff. Go see it.
(Just as a side note, I read that the movie was protested because of the word 'retard' used to describe a character in a movie that the Ben Stiller Character plays. But the joke is never the character, you never laugh because the character is handicapped, you laugh because it is played so over the top and badly. The joke is the actor, not the handicapped character. So yeah, just wanted to add that. If you are in the mood for mindless fun and you don't gross out easily, it's worth a look.)
