I had a lovely, relaxing, beautiful time. No stress, no weirdness--lovely people (except for one VIP who doesn't deserve my attention.) Corey fished and slept and drank wine coolers by the fire. He said it was nice for him too.
It's weird, with so few of the old crew there, I was worried that it would be wrong somehow. But what I learned is that sometimes cutting back is good, and making new friends is also good.
I did teach a small Tarentella, but it really needs to be done in the daytime, in the sunlight. Still, the one girl there brave enough to give it a go was very into it and it transferred to everyone there, I think. I actually had a great release just in showing how to do it!
We had a few very nice guedras, nothing earth shattering, but very comfortable and fuzzy. My tribal style bellydance went over well, I was glad that I changed it up this year and made it more challenging. Since I seem to have some of the same folks taking it, I thought it was a good move.
I got to meet Christopher Penczak, who I must say I enjoyed listening to. He said I could come and drum at the main ritual, which I did, and really enjoyed. I liked his take on things, and I loved his quarter calls, which went around three times, three circles, one for the underworld, one for the earth plane, and one for the heavens. I go into every Wicca-esque ritual lately with a cynical ear, but his writing won me over, and I actually got chills. I haven't gotten chills at any ritual other that a Religio one for over five years.
I listened to
s00j, and danced when she played my favorite of her tunes, "Hymn to Herne", which I've decided to go on and dance my solo to at the next hafla (I hope you don't mind, s00j!).
So, here's some pics from PUF. The first is me posing with our brand new sign, a gift from Kerry and William, who always look after me when I'm at PUF, they are too sweet! The sign says, 'What happens in the yurt, STAYS in the yurt!' Truer words were never spoken. :-) I am also sporting tie dyed loveliness by the talented
alexisyael, who should know that I received many compliments on her work!
