Rome was kick ass, and I am dying to find out what happens next! Poor Vorenus!

Today I need to:

Work out.
Cook.
Laundry.
Dust.
Turn in my Latin homework before Scholastica kicks me out of the class.

A Vanderbilt student group has been chosen as one of ten finalists for
an mtvU $25,000 environmental grant (you remember mtv, right?). The
public gets to VOTE ONLINE for which of the finalists gets the money!
Please, take a moment, check out the project video and information, or
just vote for Vanderbilt (at the bottom of the webpage). Oh, and please
pass this on to others that you think might be interested.

"...dancing well is not just being able to follow something that's already choreographed, which we learn through imitation. Dancing well is allowing the dance that already exists inside of us to take flight in the movement of our bodies and through our sensitivity. This dance is begun not by moving, but by staying still and listening to our breathing."

"...my goal is not to get [my students] to roll quarters on their bellies, or balance a glass on top and use the abdominal muscles to move it; my intent is to help them act from the inside, to find a...spiritual dimension within the body itself..."

"...we are so accustomed to changing from one thing to another, to speeding up the processes and transformations in life, [that] it's easy to understand why we often feel obligated to construct our dances with many different steps, accents, turns, and variations in direction to try to "control" time and make it less monotonous and more diverse for ourselves as well as the people watching us.

"I, on the other hand, like to cultivate the mystery of belly dancing, following the choreographic form suggested by its archaic heritage, and the musical beat that tells me to abandon myself to the dance's rhythmic language and to persist in the movements that come to me, which are really suggested by the body itself. One movement brings another one along, "it transforms," and the dance has a magnetic quality...it is lived "on the inside:" it's...nourished by breathing and emotions."

"The greatest wish that I could have for a dancer is that she might lose herself in the dance, being able to feel the inspiration that lets you abandon yourself to something bigger than you. That's when you feel the chill that makes your hair stand on end and gives you goose-bumps...and it comes to you like an unexpected gift."

I'm not one to post too many memes and quizzes, but this one was funny, and I'm such a depraved old bitch that I had to see what my total was.

Here's how it works:

You don't have to confess your answers, just the amount of your fine. And NO, it is not PER incident (otherwise, some of us would have totals more than the national debt!).

Bring up that calculator, and get to work!

Smoked pot -- $10
Did acid -- $5
Ever had sex at church -- $25
Woke up in the morning and did not know the person who was next to you -- $40
Had sex with someone on MySpace -- $25
Had sex for money -- $100
Vandalized something -- $20
Had sex on your parents' bed -- $10
Beat up someone -- $20
Been jumped -- $10
Crossed dressed -- $10
Given money to stripper -- $25
Been in love with a stripper -- $20
Kissed some one who's name you didn't know -- $0.10
Hit on some one of the same sex while at work -- $15
Ever drive drunk -- $20
Ever got drunk at work, or went to work while still drunk -- $50

As you may or may not know, Rose and I are huge ROME fans.

On Sunday, I put out a platter of diced feta, salami, olives, hummus and tapenade and invited over a few friends to watch ROME season 2's premiere. It was excellent! I hated when the hour was over, and I would love to go into detail about the episode but I don't know if anyone else has seen it.

Rose, I did find some info on the breast milk for Caesar thing, at least I think I've figured it out:

I've gotten one chapter of Latin done today, I still have to type it up and submit it. That leaves one more chapter and I'm caught up and ready to study for the midterm. I didn't get a workout in because my bones were creaky over the weather. I hope tomorrow will be a little better, my belly feels flabby and bloated and I've been munching all day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The workshop with Artemis was really wonderful, I learned a lot about new ways to present a barrel turn that I hadn't really considered, as well as a very good hip articulation section that I will definitely be stealing. She had an abdominal section that was awesome, I wish I wasn't on the near end of my period, I was so bloated but I did manage to get some of the side to side abwork, which I didn't even think was possible. Something new to work on!
She did not teach Turkish/Rom fusion that she is known for, I apparently missed that the last time she was in Huntsville. I'm keeping my ears open for another workshop with her that covers this--I dance to Turkish stuff at home, but I've only done it in public twice, and to be honest, it is something I have really wanted to present again. I have to be careful with Turkish music though, I tend to get lost in it and strain my knees!
I bought her DVD and I love it from what I've seen. It was more than I usually pay for a DVD but I have no regrets. Maybe I can work something up for the next hafla, whenever that is. Speaking of, I just heard that the coffeeshop is closed down, and I'm being sort of blamed for it! What the hell??? I've been laying low the whole time, not taking sides, and that's what I'm going to keep on doing... I have enough drama of my own without going out of my way to find more!
No worries, there must be someplace in town that likes bellydancers, right?
