We have a laundry one in our family.. You never do laundry on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. If you do, you'll have money troubles for the rest of the year.
I'm not quite sure of the logic behind it. Maybe something along the lines of "washing away any dirt/evidence of hard work", or somehow losing any loose change that might be in your pockets or something. *laughs* But it's something that my mom has always insisted upon.
Personally, I hold to it.. Just because I can't afford for the superstition to actually be true. Such is the life of the poor. ;>
