Last night after class we sat around and watched Rocky Horror and [livejournal.com profile] dement1a and I yelled some comebacks at the screen. She remembered a lot more than I did, since I haven't seen it in a theatre since the late 80's or so. I was very surprised though, and what I did remember, and the ones Sara called out were really funny--many of which I don't think I've heard before. All in all, it was a great deal of fun, and I wish [livejournal.com profile] gypsy_raihana, who says she doesn't understand what all the hype is about, and [livejournal.com profile] mezzanotterose, who I know whould have loved all the fun, weren't there this week.

Are there any other Rocky fans on my friends list? Speak up, especially if you are local, [livejournal.com profile] dement1a might be able to organize a showing locally, or failing that, there seems to be a pretty good show put on up in Louisville by these guys:

Louisville is far, but maybe it would be worth it for an overnight road trip?

Would you want to know if we planned a trip to Louisville or Atlanta to see it?

I don't think there is one here at all. We have the DVD and own the soundtrack as well. Haven't been to a show since we lived in California (the longest running Rocky is in Berkeley, which is one of the two I've been to in Northern CA, tho my favorite was the one in Petaluma, just a smaller, more intimate thing there.)

Me and Howard are fans. :) He used to play Rocky in some theater in NY when he was younger.

I saw it for the first time like 10 years ago in college, in downtown Seattle. Janet was played by an Asian woman who was about 8 months pregnant. It has skewed all my future viewings. I saw it at DragonCon this past summer. A group called Down on Dixie? or something like that does it out of Atlanta and they were excellent.

[livejournal.com profile] demen1a mentioned that group as well. is there still a theatre in Miami that shows it?

I'm not sure. There are a few things now, like for NEw Years and they have a show at the gay and lesbian center sometimes, but I don't know bout a regular show.

I was obsessed in jr high, and my husband says he was right after highschool... but we aren't local.

You might want to google it or find the script they published. A lot of the audience participation is regional (the west coast yells different comments than the east) and you could impress you pals with your broad knowledge of witty things ;-)

I thought about that, but I don't think I'd want to read through the whole script, it would be really tiresome, but I thought that if I pulled a script up on the laptop while watching it one time, that might make it fun.

Louisville isn't that far. only about 2.5 hours. We could do an overnighter there sometime.

I was dragged to the show my Freshman year of college, and I LOVED it! Every Halloween, our theater troupe puts it on in cooperation with the SGA. I am quite certain that the guy in charge of the building HATES it, but it is always a full house!

Ever since that first time, I have showed up to watch, dressed as Janet. For some reason, I get quite a few cheers and catcalls when I stalk down the aisle wearing nothing but a bra, panties, and a slip!

Ages ago, I used to go as Columbia. Now I am too fat, so I'm considering dressing as Eddie if we actually dress up for it.

I will post if anything comes of the road trip!
